Joseph Sutherland is from Fort Albany, Ontario reservation. He has worked on numerous jobs that involve revitalization of culture since 2000. He works with organizations in Indian country that involves the Anishinaabeg language and culture knowledge. Today, he works at a Native American treatment center in Sawyer, Minnesota teaching culture and language. He worked on projects and shared cultural knowledge of the environment and connection through the stars. He shares his knowledge of the  Anishinaabeg 'doodem clan' system and the connection with star constellations and stories with community and educational institutions.
